...for the consumer, the environment, the cattle, and the rancher"

Benefits of grass fed, free range beef:

  • Free of the growth hormones, and antibiotics introduced to cattle raised and/or finished in feedlots on a corn diet
  • Avoid geneticallymodified organisms (GMO's) that are common in industrial corn production
  • Lower in total fat
  • Higher in beta-carotene
  • Higher in vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol)
  • Higher in the B-vitamins thiamin and riboflavin
  • Higher in the minerals calcium, magnesium, and potassium
  • Higher in total omega-3s
  • A healthier ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids
  • Higher in CLA, a potential cancer fighter
  • Higher in vaccenic acid (which can be transformed into CLA)
  • Lower in the saturated fats linked with heart disease

  • Raising animals on pasture requires careful property management and a commitment to the grasses and plants that will serve as feed for the cattle
  • Grazed lands help slow global warming by removing carbon dioxide from the air
  • Well-managed grazing lands provide much-needed habit for wildlife, reduce water runoff, and provide cleaner, more abundant water for wildlife and human use
  • Growing corn and soy causes six times more soil erosion than pasture
  • Grazing lands are among our most picturesque landscapes
  • Lower carbon footprint than that required to grow, process and feed cattle corn-based diet
  • Lower carbon footprint via supporting US raised grass fed beef (vs. importing)

  • Eliminate feedlot animal stress and abuse
  • Eliminate the unnecessary use of hormones, antibiotics, and other drugs
  • Cattle spend their lives in a natural environment
  • Sustain small family ranches
  • Produces food with increased nutritional value

Drawbacks of corn-finished beef

  • Chemicals, hormones and antibiotics are introduced at multiple stages
  • Chemical fertilizers are used on the corn the animals are fed
  • Growth hormones are injected into the cattle
  • Antibiotics routinely mixed into the cattle's feed
  • Cattle are more susceptible to disease because of unnatural products and processes (requiring even more antibiotics)
